Thanks to our distinctive full-boarding approach, we have plenty of space in our timetabling to provide extra challenge and inspiration for our pupils.
Our academic enrichment programme is wide ranging, and is designed to help boys grow into independent learners – curious thinkers who want to know more, and have the skills to explore.
One of our most popular enrichment activities is our programme of visiting speakers. We’ve welcomed Olympians, politicians, mountaineers, entrepreneurs, educationalists and authors to Sherborne, and the boys always enjoy hearing from a variety of perspectives. The questions posed by pupils at these sessions are intelligent, articulate and sensitively expressed.
Boys across year groups are encouraged to participate in academic societies, which provide a chance to deepen and widen their knowledge of their favourite disciplines.
To further enhance boys’ habits of learning, we offer various subjects as enrichment options at AS level, as well as encouraging boys to make regular use of our first-rate Art, DT, Music and Drama facilities in their spare time. Allied to the Extended Project Qualification that boys can complete in the Sixth Form, we believe our overall culture at Sherborne is more akin to that of a university environment than of a school – making it the ideal preparation for a boy’s next steps.
