Ski Racing is now established as a popular and successful sport at Sherborne with opportunities for boys to learn how to race or hone skills they may already have.
An annual training camp during October half term has visited various glaciers in European resorts such as Cervinia, Tignes and Kaprun, and also the internationally renowned SnowWorld indoor ski centre in Landgraaf, Netherlands. This has helped prepare the boys for the DHO British Schoolboys Championships in Wengen, Switzerland which takes place in January on the world famous Lauberhorn course. Success in recent years has come in Slalom, Giant Slalom and the increasingly popular Dual Slalom team event.
Although we have some experienced racers, many boys with a purely recreational background are able to make the transition to racing and quickly adapt their skills to skiing through poles and gates. For both the training camp and Wengen event our boys benefit from the coaching from Precise Racing, an established and respected ski racing coaching company.
