Tennis at Sherborne is an all-inclusive, popular sport that continues to develop and thrive. In the summer when the freshly mown courts look glorious and the sun is shining, it is clear to see why over 170 boys choose to play. Tennis instils discipline, mental resilience and finesse and we are proud of how the boys demonstrate these qualities on the court.
Sherborne fields 10 tennis teams, giving lots of boys the opportunity to play competitively. For those involved in the top teams, they regularly compete against some of the most talented opposition in the country. In 2022, the Third and Fourth Form boys had great success by winning the regional finals in the LTA Y9/10 competition. Committed individuals who are looking to progress their tennis have the opportunity to access a year round programme and are supported in their competition schedules.
Boys work hard throughout the year in preparation for the summer term where we have a strong fixtures list and enter two teams in both the LTA Glanville Cup and Y11-13 competition.
Coaching
The progress and development of school players is driven forward by the Director of Tennis, Richard Keen. Richard is LTA Level 4 qualified and coaches the boys on both an individual and group basis.
