Specialist Higher Education Programme Overview
(to view the PDF, please click here)
Pupils interested in applying for courses at competitive universities have a specialised bespoke programme coordinated by the Head of Specialist Higher Education. From October of the Lower Sixth year, pupils attend subject discussion groups. One-on-one subject mentoring with a subject specialist starts in February of the L6th year. All pupils have regular half-termly meetings with the Head of Specialist Higher Education to ensure that they are developing their wider academic skills and conducting appropriate super-curricular reading and research. The focus in the Upper Sixth year turns to guiding them in writing personal statements and preparing for entrance tests and interviews. The mock Oxbridge interview evening and Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) evening for medics and vets help with this process, as do regular chances to practice admissions tests in exam conditions in Michaelmas term of the Upper Sixth.
