Badminton brings together players from the Third to the Upper Sixth Form with varying levels of experience and skill. We have been one of many lucky teams that have gained access to the new Sports Hall facilities at the School and this has allowed us to increase the number of boys we are able to accommodate in the sport. Since 2016, Dr Spencer has acted as MiC of Badminton, but we have been fortunate in that we have also gained a new coach in the form of Ms Taylor who is not only a qualified coach, but is also involved in county badminton herself. The 1st Team consists of 8 key players, but we have a number of talented boys who support the team and give us the flexibility to play up to 12 in a fixture. 2024 has seen the introduction of the Wessex Badminton League, which coordinates matches with a number of local scores, including Canford, Millfield and Kings Taunton to name a few. The boys also enjoy regular fixtures with Sherborne Girls, who are also in the league, offering an opportunity to both socialise and improve their match play.
