Prep School Liaison

We are committed to developing and strengthening our relationships with prep schools, both local to us in Dorset, and further afield. We are pleased to work closely with schools and their staff to ensure they have a thorough knowledge of our School and can best advise their pupils and parents about a Sherborne education.

Heads and Senior School Co-ordinators from our feeder schools are regular visitors to Sherborne and we enjoy attending senior schools’ fairs to meet parents who are considering the next steps in their son's schooling.

Music Events - 2024-25

We have teamed up with the Music Department at Sherborne Girls to present three fantastic opportunities for Prep School Musicians to join us for the day and experience music-making at Sherborne. For full details, please click on the image below. Musicians in Years 5 to 8 are most welcome to join us, but they are primarily aimed at Years 5 and 6.

Cracking the Code - Wednesday 5 February 2025

“This is only a foretaste of what is to come and only the shadow of what is going to be.”

Alan Turing, an outstanding mathematician who has been hailed as the creator of modern computing and AI, was a pupil of Sherborne School from 1926 to 1931. We are delighted to mark his contribution to world of computing by hosting our Virtual Cracking the Code event.

The event, hosted by the Sherborne Schools, invites schools to take part in a series of cryptic code-breaking challenges, and compete for prizes for themselves and their schools. Schools may enter either one team of up to six pupils, or two teams of up to three pupils from Year 5. Will your school be crowned the Sherborne Virtual Cracking the Code Winners for 2025? Please RSVP here by Monday 6 January 2025.

Art Events for Prep Schools

Staff Expertise

Our teaching and support staff have a wealth of skills and experience that they are delighted to share, and we are pleased to offer a selection of events for prep school pupils and staff every year. This includes a range of activities at Sherborne, within individual schools, out in the community, and online including:

  • STEAM challenges, demonstrations, and activities
  • Specialist coaching, refereeing, and fixtures
  • Music workshops, masterclasses, performances, and concerts
  • Art and DT workshops and masterclasses
  • Preaching and speaker opportunities
  • CPD seminars and workshops
  • Departmental symposia

Thanks to our close partnership with our sister school, Sherborne Girls, the initiatives we run are not limited to boys only and we are always open to co-ordinating tailored enrichment events or programmes for individual schools. Popular recent events have included Cracking the Code, a Printmaking Workshop for staff and pupils, a CPD Conference for Matrons and Prep Schools' Choral Day.

We are very happy to work with prep schools to put together bespoke engagement events. If you would like to find out more about how we can work with your school, please contact Louise Smith, our Engagement Officer, by emailing [email protected]
