We are delighted to announce that David Ridgway (Teacher of Biology) has received news that he has been shortlisted as one of 15 in the Portraiture Category of the Open Competition at the 2020 Sony World Photography Awards, the world’s biggest photography competition.

Sir Colin’s portrait belongs to David’s on-going portfolio of the large and diverse family of Sherborne’s notable and famous alumni, which he began in 2010. The portraits are photographed with sitters in ‘blues uniform’, linking their grounding at Sherborne with their career and achievements.

David’s winning photograph and many more in his series, including portraits of Hugh Bonneville, Tom Bradby (ITN), Sir Chris Chataway, Maj Gen Patrick Cordingley, Phil Harvey (Coldplay), David Leakey (Black Rod) and Sir Dermot Turing can be seen in a New History of Sherborne School entitled ‘Old Yet Ever Young’, due to be published soon. Written by Patrick Francis (former History teacher), David is Principal Photographer. Patrick and David also collaborated on ‘Vivat Shirburnia’; a history of OS in the Great War, published in 2014.
