Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold and Silver Award Expeditions

Outdoor Activities

We have had the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold and Silver Award groups out for their Expeditions over the last four days. We were unable to go far, due to the Government’s advice for no residential school trips, but were able to take advantage of some alterations to the rules by the governing bodies. This allowed the boys to walk from school and be returned to their Houses after each days walk.

The Gold boys walk about 100km over the four days with the Silvers covering around 75km. Both groups were required to carry all the kit, as normal, and to set-up camp and cook meals. What appeared, in the planning stage, to be a more relaxed expedition than in previous years, in fact, turned out to be a very wet and challenging experience, with much problem solving and resilience needed. Congratulations to those boys listed below for completing the Expedition section for their Award. Thank you to James Kimber, Chris O’Donnell, Paul Wilson, Andy Stratton and Brian Thomas for supporting these teams in such challenging conditions.
