The Sherborne Sports Centre has undergone a significant expansion and re-modelling. Completed in January 2024 it provides the following:
- Two Sports Halls, one 867 sqm, and one 585 sqm - space for....

- two five-a-side pitches
- two basketball courts
- eight badminton courts
- four squash courts
- climbing and bouldering area
- fitness suite
- Sports Performance area
- two studios
- new changing rooms
- golf simulator.
A note from our Director of Sport
The opening of the new sports centre has transformed the experiences of our boys and created many more opportunities for them to train and play both on a performance and participation level.
All the various additional and refurbished facilities with state-of-the-art equipment help create the perfect environment for boys of all ages to enjoy activity and exercise. It has also been pleasing to see pupils from Sherborne Prep School benefitting from the new building both in PE lessons and for their games programme.
We are very grateful for the support of all involved in the project including OS, parents and the generous donors who have helped to create a superb facility at Sherborne School.

The first phase of the project saw the building of a contemporary and cutting edge five-court sports hall, making it one of a kind and unique to Sherborne. The introduction of the hall in September has enabled futsal, badminton, cricket, hockey, and a variety of other sports to take place. The construction of our bespoke climbing and bouldering walls have also been completed, with our climbing wall standing at a magnificent 9 metres tall and offering a range of routes for climbers to explore and conquer. Our bouldering room is for free-climbing (without ropes or harnesses) where participants must solve ‘problems’ using their strength, balance and brain. Both are being enjoyed by pupils at Sherborne School and will be open to the public in 2023.

The second phase has seen a modernisation of the heated 25-metre indoor swimming pool, including the installation of an improved ventilation system, striking new anti-slip tiles and innovative indoor upgrades such as energy-efficient poolside lighting.
The final phasing of the project was completed in the summer of 2023. The Centre now also benefits from four new leading squash courts, two spectacular fitness studios, a state-of-the-art gym containing new equipment, a spacious wet-side changing room, viewing gallery for visitors to watch poolside and a modern, bright, and relaxing reception area, equipped with the most comfortable seating to enjoy a catch-up with friends or take a moment after an exhilarating fitness class.
