Sherborne Schools ran their first Solo Acting Competition at the weekend in the Powell Theatre. Students from the Gryphon School, Sherborne Girls, Leweston School and Sherborne School, between the ages of 13-18 were invited to take part.
The participants performed both classical and modern individual speeches to a panel of judges, which included two professional theatre directors, one of whom is on the auditioning panel for the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
There were some outstanding performances from the children, with Sherborne boys winning both the Junior categories.
The winners of the competitions were:
Bently Creswell (3a) - Junior Modern category with Mark from 'Osama the Hero' by Dennis Kelly.
Maximilian Scheuner (4f) - Junior Classical category with The Prince from 'Romeo and Juliet'.
Two girls from Leweston School, Izzy Humphreys and Lexis Nyeko won the Senior categories.
Well done to everyone who took part.
