The Sherborne Ski Team once again participated in the DHO British Schoolboys’ event in Wengen, Switzerland, and competed with bravery, skill and determination. The first event was the Dual Slalom which saw the boys race as team of four back to back against an opposing school. The U18 team of Ben Nokes (U6m),  Ben Pugsley (U6d), Tom Perkins (L6a) and Frey Hopkinson (3f) (who was racing boys 5 years older than him) performed well and were runners up in the final of the plate competition. The U16 team, George Case (4m), Will Perkins (5a), Ignacio Rivero Anglada (4a) and Toby Jones (4b) skied with aggression and made the final of the cup competition, where they were beaten by a very strong team from Reeds School.

The following day saw the Slalom completion in inclement conditions. George Case skied well to finish 7th overall and Will Perkins finished 11th, but was the 1st unregistered skier and 9 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.  Tom Perkins finished 4th in the U18 unregistered category, positioning the boys in a good place ready for the next day.

The Giant Slalom on the Lauberhorn World Cup Run proved the show piece event. The boys were treated to clear skies,  good racing conditions and fast courses in the shadow of the famous North face of the Eiger. With such a large lead Will Perkins needed to secure two fast times to retain his overall U16 unregistered title and did so coming second in the U16 unregistered Giant Slalom, George Case also performed well finishing 6th overall. Ignacio Rivero Anglada must also take credit for the improvements he has made in his skiing and a top ten U16 unregistered finish.

Ben Nokes, Ben Pugsley and Tom Perkins all put in consistent performances throughout the weekend and, alongside Will Perkins, finished as runners up in the U18 team event narrowly behind Dulwich College.

As always the boys were a credit to the School and it was great to bring back silverware for the second year running.
