Twenty pupils from the Fourth Form collaborated with Sherborne Girls to produce team entries for the UK Linguistics Olympiad.

The challenge involves deciphering a series of problems in a range of world languages unfamiliar to our students ranging from Swedish runes to an Aboriginal language. They responded well to the challenge of working out linguistic patterns in unusual and unfamiliar languages. Oz Power (4a) and Alexander Whale (4a) are winners of the School's internal competition; official results are due to be published next term. Douglas Groves (L6c) was also awarded a bronze award in the fiendishly difficult advanced challenge.
