On Sunday 18th June (Fathers' Day) a group of 18 boys and parents met at the Mendip Shooting Grounds for the Fifth Annual Parents’ and Sons’ Clay Shooting Competition. The weather was glorious and it was good to see previous supporters of the day joined by enthusiastic newcomers for the event although numbers were slightly hindered by three A level exams on the following day!

In the competition for the boys’ trophy, the high gun was won by Cameron Cooper (4d), but strong scores were also achieved by Hugo Hurrell (5g), Harry Guy (U6b), William Ashton (3m) and George Pardoe (4m). Cameron Cooper was also high gun out of all participants.

The parents’ trophy was won by Paul Ashton, but mention must also go to Peter Wells (Father to Jack Wells (5e), Adam Parsons (Father to Henry Parsons (3d) and Mickey Petley (Godfather to Guy Romilly (4m).

The highlight of the day was the parent and son competition which was won by the Cooper family, with the Ashton family a single clay behind in second place and the Wells family in third place.

The trophy awards were made over lunch and everyone agreed that it was a tremendous day to end the year’s clay shooting activities.
