Dramatic Reading Competition Final

As ever the School embraced 3rd Form Reading Week with a huge variety of activities designed to celebrate the joy of reading in all its guises.

We were delighted to host the author Olivia Levez as she delivered a talk to the 3rd Form about the writing process behind both her books The Island and The Circus, as well some insight into how to get published.

Later we had a visit from Sherborne Pre-Prep (Year 2). The theme was the magical and nonsensical Dr Seuss books and, thanks to our Lower Sixth Reading Champions, the 22 children enjoyed some stories and a treasure hunt round the library.

We then welcomed Rory Maclean to talk to the whole of our Sixth Form. He talked about North Korea and gave us a glimpse of the country through a series of photographs that were taken on his trip which was instigated by The British Council.

Finally, the Third Form battled it out in Dramatic Reading Competition Final. The judging panel of the Headmaster, Mrs B. Darnley and Humphrey Graham (L6m) all commented on how well the eight finalists did. The overall winner was Jack Pyman whose reading from P.G Wodehouse left the judges with a smile on their faces. The joint runners-up were Charlie Fairclough-Wood and Finn Grammaticas.
