Another Year of A Level Success

Our warmest congratulations go to this year’s Upper Sixth Form leavers upon their excellent A level results.   The boys achieved an A*-A pass rate of 47% with 14% of entries awarded an A*.  77% of entries were graded A* to B and 91% A* to C.

The results are all the more impressive given that our A*-A pass rate rose despite a fall nationally to the lowest level in over a decade (from 26.5% in 2018 to 25.5% this year).   This only serves to emphasise the nature of our boys’ achievement.  Among the top performers were Calin Profir (A*A*A*A*); Daniel Berry (A*A*A*A); Wynn Thomas (A*A*A*A); Michal Dvorak (A*AAA); Jack Fu (A*AAA); Freddie Glassborow (A*AAA); Tom Clark (A*A*A); Tom Stagnetto (A*A*A); Seb Carty (A*AA); Richard Crane (A*AA); Bently Creswell (A*AA); Amaru Essilfie (A*AA); Fin French (A*AA); Harry le Maistre (A*AA); Will Lyde (A*AA); Malhaar Shah (A*AA); James Atwell (A*AAB); Karl Li (A*AAB); Larry Won (A*AAB); Joe Xu (A*AAB); Barney Miller (AAAB); Jack Wells (AAAC) and Will Jowett (AAA).  Many other boys also obtained outstanding grades that now see them heading off to leading universities in the UK and overseas, including Oxbridge, Durham, UCL, Bristol and Imperial.

Commenting on the results, Headmaster Dr Dominic Luckett said:

I am delighted that our boys’ ability, determination and hard work have been rewarded with these excellent results.  What makes them all the more impressive is that the boys achieved so much else during their time at Sherborne, ranging from gold awards in science and linguistics Olympiads to LTCL and ATCL music diplomas and representative honours across a wide range of sports.  I am tremendously proud of them all and wish them every happiness and success as they embark upon the next stage of their lives.
