At Sherborne, we believe joining together to make music is one of the finest things a community can do. We know our Third Form Music Scholars and Exhibitioners love making music together and the fruits of their labours were handsomely displayed on Friday 22nd November at the lunchtime recital in Cheap Street Church supported by loyal and enthusiastic members of the public, parents, staff and pupils. The Third Form Wind Quartet opened the concert with a humorous performance of Christopher Le Fleming’s Homage to Beatrix Potter. The Third Form String Quartet performed Michael McLean’s sultry Tango and the Third Form Recorder Duo demonstrated superb ensemble playing in Esprit Chédeville’s lively Fugue from Suite - La Drionne. The Third Form Brass and Saxophone Group delighted the audience with Pamela Wedgewood’s Strollathon, A Bump in the Night and Lucky number before the Sixth Form Wind Quintet brought the concert to an elegant and refined close with a performance of the Adagio and Allegro from Mozart’s Dissonance Quartet.
