News From the Macnaghten Library

This Trinity Term the Macnaghten Library has been a hub of activity. Whether it was a location for debating competitions or Inter-House Literary Quiz rounds, to even an ever changing number of topical and fun displays across all the rooms – there was always something to see! 

Throughout June, the library was celebrating all our amazing books by Commonwealth authors – in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and her dedication to the Commonwealth. This was accomplished via our recently launched ‘Read Around the World’ and ‘Sherborne’s Big Jubilee Read’ initiatives. Whether it was highlighting our stock with special Crown Bookmarks and asking the students to fill out a luggage tag about the book to pin up on our World Map, to sharing the staff and student suggestions for Commonwealth linked books on our social media – there was something for everyone. 

Finally, since our last update, congratulations are in order to Harper House who are this year’s Inter-House Literary Quiz champions with Lyon House being runners up. A very strong team, they managed to keep their nerve and hold on to the trophy for a second consecutive title.
