Whilst naturally disappointed by the cancellation of this year’s public examinations, we are delighted that our boys’ talent and industry have been rewarded with another outstanding set of A level results.
Before the outcome of any appeals, the boys have achieved an A* pass rate of 19% and an A*-A pass rate of 49%. More than a quarter of the boys gained straight A* and A grades, a simply outstanding achievement. Well over 90% of entries were graded A* to C. Our warmest congratulations go to this year’s leavers who have borne with great fortitude and forbearance the frustrations, uncertainties and anxieties by which their final year was beset.
We are also delighted that our first BTEC entries resulted in similarly impressive grades. Of 18 entries, six were awarded starred distinctions (equivalent to an A* at A level) and seven a distinction (equivalent to an A grade).
Thanks to these superb results, three quarters of the boys have secured places at their first choice universities. With almost all the boys now placed, they can look forward to embarking upon courses at a range of leading institutions in the UK and overseas, including Bristol, Cambridge, the Courtauld Institute, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Oxford, the Royal Veterinary College, St Andrews and UCL.
Commenting upon the results, Headmaster Dr Dominic Luckett, says, ‘After all that the Upper Sixth Form have so patiently endured since March, I could not be more pleased that their academic ability and commitment have been recognised through these outstanding results. Many of the performances are truly stellar and all their success is thoroughly well deserved. Aside from their scholarly endeavours, these boys have made immense individual and collective contributions to the School’s musical, artistic, creative and sporting life and I am hugely proud of them. They carry with them my thanks and best wishes as they embark upon the next chapters of their lives. They deserve every happiness and success in the years ahead.’
