Prestigious Pooley Sword gifted to Sherborne Schools’ Combined Cadet Force

Towards the end of last term, pupils from the Sherborne Combined Cadet Force (CCF) were presented with the magnificent Sherborne CCF Sword of Honour by Mr Robert Pooley LVO MBE CSTJ of the renowned Pooley Sword.  

Royal Marined Cadet RSM Tamara W (U6), Head of the Royal Navy Section, Cadet Warrant Officer, Francis K (U6e) and Head of the Army Section, Edward E (U6c) along with Contingent Commander, Rob Le Poidevin  and School Staff Instructor, Paul Wilson were part of this special ceremony. 

The sword will be presented annually to the CCF’s best cadet and will be displayed prominently to inspire future cadets to be the best they can be. The bespoke sword has beautiful designs which highlight our links to the Armed Forces. 

RSM Tamara W commented: “The Sherborne CCF is privileged to hold this sword in their stores and it will be proudly displayed and used during ceremonial occasions. It is one of the most poignant gifts given to the CCF in its recent history.” 

Pooley Sword is renowned for providing Swords of Honour notably to the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and numerous other military academies worldwide, including academies in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
