As the term comes to an end, we celebrate another successful year of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award ending this term with the three final expeditions for Bronze, Silver and Gold.

In May, 83 Third Form boys completed their Bronze qualifying expedition that took place in Dorset between Cerne Abbas and Ansty. Despite the rainy weather, the boys enjoyed what, for many of them, was their first walking and camping experience. Many lessons were learnt, and resilience was tested, but overall the boys can be proud of their efforts.

Gold and Silver qualifying expeditions were undertaken in Wales in the week of the 20 June, with the Silver expedition taking 23 boys to the Brecon Beacons National Park, and Gold taking 11 boys and 9 girls (from Sherborne Girls), to North Snowdonia. Beautiful, but scorching weather accompanied the expeditions that saw the boys traverse the beautiful Welsh countryside and mountains. Spirits were high and great teamwork and camaraderie were seen amongst all the groups.

As we approach the end of the year, many boys will have completed their other sections while many will continue their awards into the next year as they achieve across all aspects of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We look forward to another year of DofE and our new sign ups in September.
