Exploring the First World War

It has been a busy term in History with both Upper Sixth and Fifth Forms completing their coursework and banking some solid marks towards their iGCSE or A levels, whilst the Fourth Form and Lower Sixth got to grips with their new courses.

The highlight of the term has probably been the work of the Third Form, who have been exploring the First World War since half term. As part of this unit they have explored the memorials in the School Chapel and familiarised themselves with the Books of Remembrance from their own Houses, undertaking research into one of the individuals from the School Roll of Honour. This culminated in each boy creating a poppy inscribed with the name of an Old Shirburnian killed during the First World War, which was turned into a moving and memorable display in the library.
