The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award participants have been working through the different sections, despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. We have seen the Upper Sixth Form participants complete their Qualifying Expedition in Snowdonia which has some of the most beautiful and challenging environments across England and Wales.

For the first time, we have partnered with Sherborne Girls for the Gold Award and those who opted for the Canoeing Expedition took part in their Practice Expedition on the River Wye in preparation for their Qualifier on the Great Glenn later in the year.

Despite the challenges this term, we have been delighted to award four certificates of achievements: ten Bronze Awards, seven Silver Awards and five Gold Awards. Congratulations to Henry Biddulph (U6d), Harry Wood (U6f) and Gus Whitehead (OS) and a special mention to Giles Blythman-Rowe (U6c) and Oscar Maclay (U6c) who have completed all three levels during their time at Sherborne School.

Over 200 boys are currently enrolled on the award scheme across the three levels and we have now completed the sign-ups for this current year. We look forward to meeting the ‘new recruits’ in the new year, when they will be choosing their activities and preparing for the Expeditions.

James Hull, Duke of Edinburgh's Award and Educational Visits Co-ordinator.
