Straight after Commem, the CCF team headed off for an adventure in beautiful Norway. Here they spent a week immersing themselves into the culture of this stunning country. On the first day, they travelled to Osa, at the tip of Hardangerfjord, the second largest fjord in the world. Here they were very well looked after by a team of knowledgeable and welcoming guides. They learned how to make camp fires, hiked the steep and rugged Fjellene of the Hardanger region and went on a kayaking tour of Ulvik, a town with a rich history. The boys attended a foraging course where they learned how to identify edible plants and insects and visited a 30 kilometre tunnel, dug by hand and formed from dynamite for a hydroelectric power plant, amongst many other truly memorable experiences.
"Whether they’d want to live like that forever or not, I think it would be very hard to find anyone who wasn’t blown away by the regions coarse beauty, or who failed to learn something about nature or themselves from the phenomenal experience."
