Congratulations to Lyon House and the CCF Ten Tors teams on completing the notoriously tough 35 mile Ten Tors Challenge. Both teams made it over the finish line in excellent times and most importantly they did so as complete teams.
The boys completed their allocated routes on their own without any assistance whatsoever - even accepting a blister plaster from one of the military personnel who manage the checkpoints can get you disqualified; but they showed great determination and teamwork to keep each other going to the very end. We were lucky with the weather, as it stayed dry, however the environment that the boys took on over the rough terrains of Dartmoor was a huge challenge.
The boys threw themselves into the task and had been on several training expeditions to build up their endurance, skills and teamwork. Charlie W from the CCF team commented on his Ten Tors experience:
"Ten Tors was a brilliant experience for the whole team. Although we’d done many practices the real thing was completely different. Crossing the finish line gave a great sense of achievement and pride, having completed the challenge. It is something I would advise taking part in and an event that is worthwhile doing."
