Dr Gianfranco Conti – Sherborne School Language Teaching Masterclass

Sherborne School Modern Foreign Languages Department was delighted to host renowned applied linguist and language teaching researcher Dr Gianfranco Conti for a full day workshop on Monday 10^th June. Teachers from Sherborne, Sherborne Girls, Sherborne International as well as guests from other schools enjoyed a fantastic introduction to what language teachers should take from the latest developments in cognitive science and how it can change their practice for the better. As well as strong arguments in favour of evidence based teaching, he gave the delegates a crash course in Malay in order to demonstrate some of his ideas practically. In the afternoon, Dr Conti brought us up to date on the latest research on how to teach listening skills in Modern Languages.
